I just registered myself to the Linux counter and got this nice little picture for it.
The homepage estimates the overall number of Linux users to 29 millions, but as it is stated on the homepage it is really hard to count how many people use Linux.
I looked a bit on their method of making this estimate and it seems quite sensible to me, but it may still be very far of.
